Judaic Studies

We strive to educate our students about Jewish values, morals, and traditions, by helping them to develop a keen understanding of classical texts such as the Torah, the Prophets, and the Commentaries of the Rabbis, as well as through the study of Jewish history, current events, and the importance of the State of Israel.

Our All-Day Kindergarten students receive two periods per day of Hebrew language instruction through songs, stories, and games designed to build vocabulary. We also use the Israeli Chalav u’Dvash (Milk and Honey) program to promote oral language and prepare students to read and write the Alef Bet (Hebrew Alphabet). Students are introduced to Tefilah (prayer), holidays, and Shabbat instruction through an integrated approach that includes music, movement and crafts.

With this solid foundation in place, junior students follow the highly-acclaimed Tal Am, a Hebrew language and Torah program. Tal Am uses all five of the student's senses, from music, to visual aids, to how the desks are placed in the classroom, to help teach the program.

Middle school students are introduced to the V’Shinantam program, which teaches Jewish laws and customs through sound, depth, and colour, utilizing interactive computer programs and online games.

Our senior students delve into a complex program that inspires both their mind and their Jewish soul. This program includes the study of Zionism, modern Israel, Jewish ethics, Rabbinic texts, and Jewish history. Strong emphasis is placed on conversational Hebrew.

The creation of the State of Israel is one of the seminal events in Jewish history.  Recognizing the significance of the State and its national institutions, we seek to instill in our students an attachment to the State of Israel and its people as well as a sense of responsibility for their welfare.
